West Coast MLSs form partnership to share listings data by Jeff Andrews for HousingWire

Three multiple listings services (MLSs) on the West Coast have formed a strategic partnership that will expand the reach of their real estate listings.

California’s MetroList, the Northern Nevada Regional MLS (NNRLMS) and Oregon Data Share (ODS) will share real-time data, market insights and transaction history between the more than 30,000 subscribers to the three MLSs.

The partnership was prompted by migration data from the U.S. Census Bureau that shows significant relocation among the three states, creating a need for agents to be able to access listings from other parts of the West Coast.

“Clients expect their real estate professional to work for them wherever they are buying a home, in their local community or a different state, and we know migration among our states continues to increase,” MetroList president and CEO Dave Howe said in a statement.

“By eliminating data barriers and fostering collaboration among these three leading MLSs, we are creating new opportunities for real estate professionals and improving the experience for homebuyers and sellers.”

MLSs have been busy on the technology front.

MetroList, which serves Northern California, recently partnered with real estate data provider StreetWire on a home insurance product called Home Value Lock, which gives homeowners protection in the event they have to sell their house at a loss due to an unexpected need to move.

Early last year, NNRMLS launched a home search app called HomeSpotter powered by Lone Wolf Technologies. The app provides real-time listing information on search results that can be filtered by things like commute times, school zones and ZIP codes.

“This technology partnership is about three independent MLSs working together to build software solutions that bring real value to our members,” NNRMLS CEO George Pickard said in a statement. “Our multi-state data share initiative is just the start — a foundation upon which we will level up the capabilities of our individual organizations to deliver innovation for our respective memberships in Nevada, Oregon, and California.”
