The Naloxone HCI Auto-injector from Pirouette Medical, based in Portsmouth, has won the title of the NH Tech Alliance’s 2024 Product of the Year.
Five New Hampshire businesses competed in the livestreamed and live event on Dec. 11 to an audience of over 800. Audience members voted live for their favorites, which was combined with judges’ scores to determine the winner.
“The Product of the Year competition consistently showcases the finest innovations from New Hampshire, with each year’s entries stretching the limits of what’s achievable,” said Julie Demers, executive director of the NH Tech Alliance. “We are proud to present the groundbreaking work of New Hampshire’s innovators to thousands of viewers both in the U.S. and globally.”
The winning innovation from Pirouette Medical is an auto-injector designed to deliver lifesaving injections — such as those for diabetes, obesity, severe allergies, opioid overdoses, fertility and others — all at the push of a button. Removing the anxiety of properly injecting a loved one or themselves through a high-stress event, such as an allergic reaction, the HCI Auto-injector can operate at the push of a button, and acts as a biohazard container to store that used needle.
Compact and easy to use, the autoinjector is “built to eliminate barriers to self-administration, reduce errors, and offer peace of mind,” according to Pirouette’s website.
In addition, Pirouette is working to make such medicine more affordable and accessible to ensure they can put their product into the hands of patients of those who need it most.
“It is an honor to now build Pirouette (in New Hampshire), developing and manufacturing products that can help save lives throughout the state and across the country. Recognition as the NH Product of the Year is a reflection of the small, but mighty team at Pirouette,” said Conor R. Cullinane, co-founder and CEO of Pirouette Medical.
The other finalists who also presented their innovations at the event included the SportsVisio for Volleyball AI tool by SportsVisio; Twiist wearable insulin pump by Sequel Medical Technologies; the Driver App by Driver Technologies; and the AG2 Trader by Atmospheric G2.
