Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications announces fall 2024 classes by NH Business Review for Contributed to NH Business Review

The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications has announced its fall lineup, which includes a new “pro” series. The school offers an array of courses, with topics including public speaking, First Amendment freedoms, social media video production, misinformation and using artificial intelligence.

Free Wednesday Classes
This fall, the Loeb School presents a series of free, in-person classes on Wednesday evenings, providing opportunities for participants to develop their communications and First Amendment knowledge at no cost.

Confident Communication
Four Wednesdays: Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9; 5:30 – 7 p.m., with instructor Katie Collins.

Short Videos for Social Media: Create to Engage
Four Wednesdays: Sep. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9; 5:30 – 7 p.m., with instructor

The First Amendment and Our Right to Know
Four Wednesdays: Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9; 5:30 – 7 p.m., with instructor

For those looking to deepen their professional skills, the Loeb School offers the following Pro Series workshops, providing in-depth training at an affordable price.

From Creative to Convincing: Using Craft to Become a Better Business Writer
Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024,  8 a.m. – noon.; $39.00, with instructor Hope Jordan.
This half-day workshop encourages participants to improve their professional writing through exercises commonly found in creative writing classes, for stronger content, grant applications, and professional communications.

Harnessing AI: Writing Powerful Prompts for Generative AI Tools
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024; 1 – 5 p.m.; $39.00, with instructor Ananya Ramani.
This workshop explores the capabilities of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, offering practical training in crafting effective prompts to optimize AI-generated content.

These online classes allow participation from around New Hampshire, and across the U.S.

Misinformation, Artificial Intelligence, and the Media
Four Tuesday evenings: Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29; 5:30 –  7 p.m.; free, with instructor David Humphreys. This class is a primer leading up to the 2024 elections.

Rebuilding Trust, Ethics, and Communications in an Age of Innovation
Wednesday, Sept. 25; noon to 1 p.m;  free, with instructor Drake Baerof the Edelman Trust Institute. This class is offered in collaboration with the Yankee Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, in recognition of PRSA’s Ethics Month.
