At Financial Strategies Retirement Partners (FSRP), our mission is to provide exceptional, client-centered financial and retirement planning services. With a strong focus on fiduciary responsibility and a deep commitment to long-term relationships, FSRP has become a trusted partner for individuals and businesses alike. In this Q&A, we explore the principles behind FSRP’s success, its approach to wealth management and retirement consulting, and its vision for the future. The following responses are from Shawn Monty, CEO and Managing Partner of FSRP.
Q: What inspired you to start Financial Strategies in 1995, and how did that vision evolve into Financial Strategies Retirement Partners in 2007?
I launched Financial Strategies in 1995 to gain the independence needed to act as a true consultant—offering clients quality solutions across the market, not just from one company. This client-first philosophy led to the evolution of Financial Strategies Retirement Partners (FSRP) in 2007, allowing a more holistic, fiduciary-focused approach to retirement plan consulting. By broadening our services and deepening our expertise, FSRP continues to deliver objective strategies that help clients achieve long-term financial success.
Q: What core values have guided FSRP’s growth and success?
Our growth stems from an unwavering commitment to putting clients’ interests first. With a fiduciary mindset and tailored solutions, we’ve built lasting relationships based on trust and transparency. This approach has fueled our expansion and allowed us to consistently enhance our services. In the past 14 months, we’ve added six new team members, further strengthening our ability to offer personalized, strategic guidance. As the industry evolves, we remain focused on delivering the highest level of service to help clients reach their goals.
Q: How does FSRP differentiate itself in wealth management and retirement consulting?
What sets FSRP apart is our ability to form meaningful relationships and deliver highly personalized strategies aligned with each client’s financial goals.
In retirement plan consulting, our independence and fiduciary focus enable us to offer a full suite of services that support both employers and employees. By providing objective guidance and customized solutions, we ensure every client—individual or business—receives strategic planning and support of the highest caliber.
Q: How does FSRP help businesses manage retirement plans while ensuring compliance and optimizing benefits?
We recognize that business leaders need a trusted partner to navigate the complexities of retirement plans. As specialists in 401(k) and retirement consulting, we take on the fiduciary responsibility to ensure compliance, optimize plan design, and deliver ongoing education to both employers and employees. This allows our clients to focus on their businesses while we provide objective, indispensable support to help them meet their retirement plan goals.
Q: What advice would you give to young professionals entering the financial planning industry?
Find a team that supports your growth and is committed to your development. Seek out opportunities to build your skills and stay current with industry trends. At FSRP, we offer a summer internship program to give young professionals hands-on experience and industry exposure. Building long-term relationships—whether with clients or corporate partners—is essential for lasting success. With a multigenerational team, we ensure continuity in client service, even as advisors transition. That stability fosters trust and long-term client confidence.
Q: What are your long-term goals for FSRP, and where do you see the firm in the next 10 years?
Our goal is to continue evolving with the market while expanding services and enhancing communication for both wealth management and 401(k) clients. Over the next decade, we aim to deliver even more comprehensive, customized solutions that meet our clients’ changing needs. We’ll focus on advancing our technology, improving communication, and adding services that provide lasting value—all while staying true to our commitment to personalized, fiduciary-driven advice.
