The Black Mortgage Professional Alliance (BMPA) recently announced the BMPA 2025 Conference, set for March 3, 2025. The event, which will take place in Grand Prairie, Texas, will “unite Black mortgage professionals, real estate experts, and financial leaders for a day of high-impact discussions, networking, and strategies aimed at closing the homeownership and lending gap in communities of color,” according to a release from the organization.

The conference is slated to have speakers like Byron Sanders, the CEO emeritus of Big Thought and the co-founder of Arete Health, and Danielle Fontenot, a former WNBA player and executive director of ACES Foundation.

Founded by CEO Jennifer Gormer, BMPA, described as the nation’s only organization dedicated to Black professionals in mortgage and real estate, is built on four pillars — access, resources, advocacy and support. The organization is newly formed as of Nov. 18, 2024, and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

BMPA members include loan officers, brokers, processors, underwriters, closers, title agents, real estate professionals and affiliate partners.

Diversity and equity in lending are not optional—they are essential. BMPA 2025 is about action, opportunity, and transformation,” said Gormer.

With Black borrowers facing higher denial rates and loan costs, BMPA is “working to eliminate barriers and promote equal opportunities in homeownership and industry leadership,” the release shared.

Lamont Harris, president and CEO of Harris Capital Mortgage Group, serves as the organization’s chief growth officer. Other officers include Corey Singleton as the chief equity and ethics officer and Major Singleton, the organization’s chief veteran administration and internship officer.

The conference is open to and designed for professionals committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in the mortgage space.
